frequently asked questions

Which class should I come to?

All classes are for all levels, from fledgling yogis and yoginis to Power Yoga gurus.

If you are a new student (and you're feeling courageous) by all means throw yourself straight in. But please take things at a pace that you are comfortable with. Power Yoga is physically challenging, it is also supposed to be enjoyable and collapsing in a heap at the end of a session isn't our idea of fun.

We believe it's usually better for absolute beginners to try at least one of our Foundation classes. This class will teach you the basic postures, help you get to grips with a new way of breathing and will give you the confidence to join any of the Power Yoga classes we offer.

Does my body have to be flexible?

We all have different bodies and we think that's something to celebrate.

There are some people who will never be able to put their feet behind their ears but so what?! Those who can, look impressive but it doesn't make them healthier or happier than anyone else.

That said, we do believe that you should work to improve your flexibility. Better flexibility means better circulation means a healthier body. But the fact is you don't have to have the hamstrings of a gymnast to benefit from the yoga we teach. We will help you to find your place in every Yoga pose.

Do I need to book in advance?

No. All our classes are on a walk in basis. If you are planning your first visit please try to arrive at least 15 minutes before the class starts so that we can find out more about you.

How often should I practice Power Yoga?

Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (founder of Ashtanga Yoga, from which Power Yoga descended) once said "practice and all is coming". He was right.

Power Yoga is intended to be a daily practice. However don't be discouraged if you can't always find time, we know just how hectic life can be.

If you are able to get on your mat at least twice a week, you will soon see your body changing in the most wonderful ways; becoming stronger, suppler and more toned. You should also find yourself dealing better with some of the more tricky things that life throws at us from time to time.

Is it normal to find the first few classes difficult?

Yes! Power Yoga is much more cardio vascular than most people imagine. First-timers may also wake-up the next day feeling a few aches in places they didn't realize they had muscles but the great news is this is because Power Yoga works.

The more you practice the stronger and suppler your body will become and so, in turn, the more you will enjoy your practice. With a bit of dedication you'll make rapid progress.

Power Yoga is demanding but it is also invigorating. Our relaxation exercises at the end of every practice will ensure you leave feeling calm and content. If you're lucky you may even get a foot massage! Bliss.

What should I bring?

Power Yoga can be a sweaty business so we recommend that you wear clothing that is easy to move in and bring something warm to wear afterwards.

You should also bring:

  • A bottle of water (although we do sell bottled water)
  • A towel (although we do rent towels)
  • A Yoga mat (although you can use one of ours for free. We also sell mats)
Do you offer private sessions?

Yes. Please email us at to arrange a private session with one of our teachers.
